Artist's Statement

My sculptures combine the past and present. I have an affinity toward the materials I work with, a deep sense of emotion, feelings, and dreams for what the material was used for at one time and will become in my hand. These direct me on my path.

My process emerges with patterns. I take one piece of steel, add to it, delete from it. I am constantly discovering the metal’s unique appeal. When the sculpture encompasses all of my creative energy, I am done.

My technique is brute force, decide-at-the-moment. The interesting shapes of metal; the patterns, textures, and grains; all entice me. I am fascinated with form. My aspiration is to create sculpture that is completely unique; that no one has done before. I resist conformity and mass production.

I accept commissions. If you have an idea of something you want, let me know.

If you would like me to do some conceptual work, I charge $75/hr, minimum 2 hrs.

There is a 50% deposit on all commissioned work prior to commencement, and the remainder is due at completion, prior to delivery / shipment.

Sep 02, 2010 – Jeff Owen Artworks has been commissioned to create fourteen Wavecrest awards for the 2010 Clearwater Film Festival in Clearwater, Florida. Jeff Owen’s unique design was chosen by the Clearwater Film Festival Executive Director, Mike Rembis for the Clearwater Film Festival honorees. The film festival showcases seasoned filmmakers and emerging artist that demonstrate the synergy of the actor, writer and director. The Wavecrest award will be awarded in fourteen categories, including Best Picture, Best Actor, etc.

Past Event

Jason heads to Las Vegas to help two amazing acrobatic artists. He's bringing in huge boulders, tons of rock, sculpture, and plenty of plants to fix this desperate landscape, but will the judging neighbors give the yard a perfect 10?

• I was selected to supply the sculptures for the Sunset Magazine display at the Sunset Celebration weekend in Menlo Park. They chose two of my sculptures, “Celebration” and “Eclipse” to be in the model home and garden that was set up on their property to showcase “green” living. The issue of Sunset Magazine with photos is supposed to the August issue – I can’t wait to see my sculptures in print. The Landscape Architect is Steve Hindenberger of Hindesign.
• I now have a sculpture in public in Geyserville, “Man”, that will be there until November. Geyserville is working on having more public sculpture. I may be getting a commission to make a 20 foot tall piece for a field on the outskirts of town.
• I’ll be installing a sculpture “Danseuse” in Los Altos for their Los Altos Public Sculpture program.
