The Embrace

This is one special unique piece of american sculpture. It is made up of fenders that I found in the desert in Palm Springs.

As I was driving home from Palm Springs I spotted a shining piece of steel off in the desert not too far off the road. The reflection came from this beautiful mangled pair of fenders that came off of a dual wheeled trailer. There was no trailer to be seen, and I don't know how these magnificent pieces of steel happened to be out there, but I picked them up and "gently" placed them into my van. I say gently because I did not want anything to happen to them, in any way.

When I arrived back at my studio, it took me only two days to place these fenders, along with the base and support (which I also found in the desert) together.

There's a lot of history in this metal. Imagining where it has traveled to, what the trailer was carrying, and who owned it originally. This is a magnificent piece of americana desert art. Nearly priceless.
